Scholarships

We proudly offer educational scholarships to students who have lost a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, or spouse to alcohol, drug, or prescription drug abuse. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Scholarship submissions are being accepted during the time periods listed below: 

Spring 2024 Scholarship: Submissions closed. Recipient to be announced by January 31, 2024.

Fall 2024 Scholarship: Submissions open January 1, 2024 and deadline is May 31, 2024. Recipients notified by July 31, 2024. 

Criteria for The Lisa Michelle Memorial Fund Scholarship

1. Applications and supporting materials must be received before the application deadline to ensure processing. The scholarship recipient will be notified by email, and the scholarship will be sent to the school noted on your application for the Fall or Spring term.

2. Applicants must personally apply for the scholarship. Applications cannot be submitted by a third party.

3. Applicants must be a legal US or Canadian citizen and enrolled in a college, university, or trade school. For international schools, US sanctioned countries don’t qualify and the school must have wire transfer capabilities.

4. Applicants must show proof of part-time or full-time enrollment in a college or university. Proof of enrollment could be: Proof of registration from the registrar’s office, Class schedule that has your name and student ID number, and/or an acceptance letter. Prior to the scholarship being sent, there must be verification of registration and/or enrollment.

5. Applicants must show proof of a cumulative 3.0 minimum grade point average by submitting a recent transcript.

6. Applicants must have had a parent or guardian, grandparent, sibling, and/or spouse who passed away due to substance abuse. We must have written verification that this was the cause of death (i.e. death certificate). IMPORTANT: If any document shows a social security number please redact the number before sending through email.

7. Applicants must submit an essay of approximately 800-1500 words that describes the following:

  • How your family member passed away and how you got through that difficult time in your life
  • What your biggest challenges were being a student with a family member struggling from addiction
  • What your education means to you and your family
  • Why you feel you should be awarded this scholarship
  • How this scholarship will make a difference in your life
  • Be sure your essay includes your name at the top of the page(s) and is submitted as a PDF

8. Previous applicants can apply again, but previous scholarship recipients do not qualify.

10. Applicants must apply for Fall & Spring scholarships separately with updated submission documents.

All submission materials become the property of The Lisa Michelle Memorial Fund and will not be returned to you. If chosen, the recipient will be asked to participate in a written interview to be used on our website.
